Trade Balance in November 2018 Predicted Still Deficit

Jurnal Hub. Today the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) will announce Indonesia's trade balance figures for the November 2018 period. Economists predict the trade balance will again record a deficit due to slower export growth than imports.

PT Bank Central Asia Tbk economist David Sumual projects the trade balance deficit in November to reach US $ 398 million, smaller than the previous month's deficit of US $ 1.82 billion.

Then exports grew 2.6% year on year (yoy), imports grew 6.7% (yoy), so the trade balance was a deficit of US $ 398 million.

Indeed, according to him, the weakening of the rupiah that occurred last month also affected imports. Although the impact is not significant. Then the weakening factor in crude oil prices also helped to inhibit oil and gas imports.

"However, the seasonal volume of oil and gas and non-oil and gas imports usually peak two months before the end of the year," Monday (12/17/2018).

In October BPS recorded Indonesia's trade balance deficit of US $ 1.82 billion. The deficit occurred because Indonesian imports in October 2018 were recorded at US $ 17.62 billion. While Indonesia's exports in October 2018 were recorded at US $ 15.8 billion.
